'JUICY FRUITS'

'JUICY FRUITS'
One of my latest originals, and so called because it reminds me of the old Wrigleys chewing gum wrappers! Pages taken from an old botanical reference book form the background with a stencil pattern over the top to give the appearance of wallpaper. Additional layers have been added featuring club flyers and graffiti references taken from my nearby city of Bristol and inspiration, as always, from the crazy streets of Brick Lane in London.
I love the pops of the blue dephiniums against the acid yellow and the drips and splatters which I add at the end of the painting. I often include a skull motif in my work, a ‘momento mori’ used for centuries by still life artists to act as a reminder of the fleeting nature of life and the inevitability of death.
Hand-cut collage, mixed media, spray paint, acrylic paint and finished with UV varnish on canvas.
1045mm x 1045mm (professionally framed in a white, wooden floating frame)
Please note that whilst this artwork has been finished with UV protection it is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
