'DEAD POSH'

'DEAD POSH'
In my latest work I have focused on adding more to the background layers, building up interest with images of Hollywood stars from the 50's and 60's, old musical score sheets and dress making patterns, vintage french land registry certificates as well as the usual graffiti references taken from my local city Bristol and Brick Lane in London. I am an avid collector of all sorts of wild and wonderful ephemera that tells a story.
Whilst the flowers are the main focus in this original collage on canvas I wanted the background to still be filled with lots of depth and interest. I love old peeling wallpapered rooms and heavily graffitied walls that reveal decades of history hidden amongst each layer. I've tried to achieve a similar feeling in this piece and it’s not something I'd usually do but I couldn't resist perching the Hollywood starlet amongst the amaryllis flowers!
