'BRING ME SUNSHINE'

'BRING ME SUNSHINE'

£2,450.00

In my latest work I have focused on adding more to the background layers, building up interest with
images of Hollywood stars from the 50's and 60's, old musical score sheets, vintage french land registry certificates as well as the usual graffiti references taken from my local city Bristol and Brick Lane in
London. I am an avid collector of all sorts of wild and wonderful ephemera that tells a story and has a history.

Whilst the flowers are the main focus in this original collage on canvas I wanted the background to still be filled with lots of depth and interest. Stripes seem to be a recurring theme at the moment too as I think I like the order they bring amongst the chaos of everything else happening on the canvas.

Each flower has been 'hand picked' for its positive connotations. In the language of flowers (or Florigraphy as coined by the sentimental Victorians) anthuriums symbolise openess and hospitality, dahlias beauty, commitment and kindness, lisianthus signify appreciation, charm, confidence and gratitude and poppies symbolize remembrance and hope. However, within the depths of the painting are the words taken from a graffiti reference I found, Don't Be A Dick, as a little reminder that not all is as it first appears!
