AFTER SHOW GLOW
It’s been a few weeks now since my debut solo exhibition, ‘Beautiful Possibilities’, at Spring Cheltenham came to an end, but I’m still smiling from the experience! I needed a little time before posting to reflect (as well as recharge my batteries) and take stock.
I think the biggest surprise was how I viewed my work all ‘under one roof’ for the first time. Spring is such a bright and professional space it certainly helped present my work in the best light possible. Seeing it altogether, away from the studio or in an art fair setting, made me feel more detached from it, which is no bad thing. The work took on a life of its own and the show gave me the time to really study each piece as if for the first time. I even discovered small marks and gestures that I’d not really noticed before (strange as that may sound!).
I also received such a warm welcome from the people of Cheltenham and such positive feedback and encouragement throughout the 9 days. Here’s just a few of the lovely comments:
“such vibrant and stunning work”
“full of quirk, joy and colour”
“fabulously imaginative” (and possibly my favourite….)
“a wonderful, explosive fusion of pop art, graffiti and Georgia O’Keeffe in oodles”
I was thrilled my work resonated with so many people and it would appear the majority of visitors love colour and collage as much as me!
I’m also incredibly grateful to those who purchased my work (still makes me want to pinch myself that people love my work to part money for it and hang it on their walls!). It’s really spurred me on to go even bigger, brighter and bolder over the coming months.
So, without further ado, it’s back in the studio for yours truly as I make a start on a new collection. I’ve got some very exciting things lined up in the diary…but more on those in future posts!
